The Reverend Karin R. Mitchell, Rector of St.
David’s, Cranbury, works with the Vestry toward expanding and enriching
the life of the community both in the church and outside of the church.
Her many concerns involve ensuring St. David’s remains a friendly, family
oriented church ranging from singles to families with children to active
seniors to nursing home residents. She especially enjoys her role as
pastor to her people and bringing the Word to new life through preaching
and example. She assumed the duties of Rector of St. David’s on November
4, 2005.
As she has written to her parishioners, “I am
grateful to be your rector at this point in the life of the parish, a
point of excitement and growth, both spiritually and otherwise. I hope to
get to know each of you and help you to get to know me. I continue to look
for God’s will for my tenure as St. David’s Rector, and for our
congregation. I ask your prayers also, that the spirit guides the
community of St. David’s as we continue in our Christian journey
together.”
Concerning the children, teenagers, and young
adults of the church she writes, “Our young people are not just the future
of the church, they are valued members of our church, right now, today,
and they need all of our prayers and support and commitment as they grow
in their love of and witness to Christ.”
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Biological Sciences from Rutgers University’s Douglass College and a
Master of Science degree in Microbiology from Rutgers University. In 2001
she graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary with a Master of
Divinity degree. In 2002 she received a Certificate in Anglican Studies
from General Theological Seminary, New York.
She was ordained in 2002 at Holy Innocent’s
Episcopal Church in Beach Haven, New Jersey, serving there as Deacon and
Priest Associate, until being called as Vicar of St. Francis’ Episcopal
Church, in Dunellen, NJ in 2003.
Many parishioners of St. David’s have known
Mother Mitchell for some years as she has been had been an active
parishioner of St. David’s since moving to the area in 1987, serving on
the vestry, as Senior Warden, and on many other committees until leaving
in 2000 to pursue her vocation.
Today, in addition to her spiritual
leadership, she brings wide experience in administration and organization
from her work with civic organizations: as a member of the Hightstown
Planning Board and Environmental Commission (1990-1992), the Borough
Council of Maywood, NJ, President of the East Windsor-Hightstown League of
Women Voters (1988-1992), President of the Rocky Hill Garden Club, and

member of the board of directors of Better Beginnings and the Rocky Brook
Garden Club and a member of the Friday Club of Hightstown and well as the
East Windsor Hightstown League of Women Voters.
A native of New Jersey, and longtime resident
of Hightstown, she and her husband, David, have three grown children,
Scott, Sarah and Sam, two dogs, Cody and Molly, and three cats, Callie,
Bootsie and Ezekiel. She enjoys running, yoga, gardening, reading and
